Picnic Day Fashion Show Signature Collections

One of the biggest events for Davis is their annual Picnic Day, where people from all over town would drop by to check out the dog shows, milk the cows, explore the mini events hosted by all the departments of UC Davis, and frankly, get intoxicated. (Though, most people walking on the streets are sober this year. Announcements were made that anyone that aren’t sober could get fined up to $400. Ouch.)

Invited by Sandy, I attended the Picnic Day Fashion Show, hosted by UCD Runway Designers Club. I’m no expert on dresses, but it’s not hard to notice the innovation all the talented designers have brought to the table for this showcase. It was eye-opening.

↑ Sandy, also known as Sae, had collaborated [with  TIZ in the past]! It was awesome.

I’ll let the apparel speak for itself (All photos taken by Michelle):

↑ One of the pieces by Sandy. If you examine up close, the white dots on the drippy jackets are actually googly eye balls. That’s right. And this is just a quick taste of what’s coming up next.

↑Candy inspired dress by designer Candy.

↑Woot, Frankees!

↑One of the most remarkable dresses of the show – a dress made out of mirror pieces. With the spot light projecting onto the dress, hundreds of sparkles reflecting from the dress, acting like stars, made the room a galaxy. It was beautiful. Designed by Amanda Chan.

↑Design for survival, newspaper blazer by James Choi.

Moment I’ve been waiting for:

Phenomenal job!

↑Sandy with her fambam! It’s heartwarming to see family being so supportive.

That’s a wrap- wasn’t able to explore much at Picnic. I even missed DDR.. Nonetheless, congrats to Breakdance Club for taking the crown and Popping Club, being their first solo show at DDR, for taking runner-up!

’til next time
