My garage the core dumpster for the house, storing shit that I don’t really need and things that I might use (and will never use). I’m talking about shelves, several IKEA tables( ones where you screw in the legs), few mattresses, and even a 30 year old dryer that was originally saved as potential back-up dryer. It’s an adventure every time I have to retrieve my mails. In a bad way.
Things are about to change. Here’s the build-out of my man-cave.
[su_heading]The Garage[/su_heading]
This is where I start out:
It’s not half bad? Perhaps because I just spent the last 2 days tossing out 50% of the stuff.
[su_heading]The Dog Fence[/su_heading]
This is the first item of the build out for a few reasons:
1. I work at home and the doggies stay with me. And since I’ll be working out of this garage for the next couple of days, I’d rather have them here, then in the house chewing on wires for breakfast and ripping tissues as a recreation.
2. Eventually I plan to use the garage as my workspace, so it’s only a matter of time that the dogs would chill here with me. And I’d like to have the garage door open, so I can enjoy some sun.
[su_heading]The Blueprint[/su_heading]
Each garage door measure’s about 100 inches in width.
Not only should the dog fence covers the area, it should be collapsible for easy storage. So here:
[su_heading]Supplies[/su_heading]
For 1 side:
-2′ x 25′ wire cloth—$34 (which is plenty for both garage doors)
-8pcs of 11/16″ x 2-3/8″ x 8′ Furring strip—$2.12ea total of $16.96
-2pcs of 2″ x 1-3/8″ broad hinges—$2.97ea total of $5.94

I cut the boards into 24 individual pieces:
Sand down the edges:
Cut the wire into 3 main pieces for the fences:
Glue the frame for extra reenforcement:
Joint two pieces with the wire cloth sits in between:
BAM:
Add the hinges:
Now it can be stored easily at a convenient size of about 2’x3′:
When spread open:
[su_heading]Result[/su_heading]
Here it is, the first step of my man-cave. Though, it doesn’t cage hounds, and instead, just two tiny white dogs, I still felt like the king of jungle and ready to take on the world having to built this with my bare hands. Despite it being slightly crooked, I think it looks pretty dam good.
This is Mini. She doesn’t bite and she’s tiny, but her barks will melt your faces.
So far, so good.
’til next phase,
Benson
