New York Trip – Day One

I’m back! Time for recaps.
This was be my second time visiting the Big Apple ( I vaguely remember the city from my first visit, except for the countdown, which was a horrendous experience – did it for the story. ) I almost forgot how fast NYC moves and how cold it can get. Good thing I brought enough jackets and comfortable shoes.

Using Tony’s last spring break as an excuse, we hit up the east coast to visit our friend – Kevin [hanchia design], who’s been working there for a good 4 months now.

↑Taking a short break from LSATs, Michelle came with.

↑That’s Tony, he’s helped TIZ with quite a few projects in the past. Remember [the camera]?

It’s a shitty time, but we made it.

Kevin resides in Brooklyn. The cold weather didn’t phase him.

↑ Ooh, the classic white tee and puma sweat pants combo, reminds me of the good ‘ol Davis days. Except no more belly. He’s as lean as ground beef. word.

↑Kailin’s the housemate. Knowing that we skipped dinner (or oblivious about the fact that Delta wouldn’t provide any free meals for domestic flights), they made us gourmet sandwiches. Ooh yes.

Night went by quickly. Probably because we just skipped 3 hours.

Morning came quickly, too. Before I piece myself together from the short sleep, Kevin’s already prepare to take on the day.

I wasn’t kidding about the cold:

↑This is the way spring says hi in New York. Requires an extra layer of jackets. and gloves. and beanies.

↑mm, Helvetica.

↑ If we got time, we’ll edit the clips Tony’s filmed throughout the trip. IF we got time.

↑ Not as complex when compare to the [JR from Japan], but definitely quite a bit more to take in when upgrade from the [BART] map.

After examining through map for a good 15 minutes, we still mistake the stop. darn.

..but we came across this:

↑ Definitely one of the best burger joints I know. So very juicy. (that’s what she said.)

which was located next to this:

↑ One of the 5 Shake Shack’s located in the middle of Madison Square Park, across from the flat iron building.

Once you start to look, you begin to see. It’s incredibly hard even for the squirrels to resist.

↑The Shack burger. Around $4.50 (slightly pricey), it’s pretty small as well, but certainly bites of joy.

Quick pit stop.

↑ I personally like the new Starbucks logo. Simplicity goes a long way.

Located right across from us:

..a place that has 100% recycled shopping cart from plastic bottles.

Rec. by Kev. (the other Kev)

↑ He called it the “Ikea for Italian cuisine and grocery shop.” Indeed, it was.

You get to see people tasting wine and grabbing genuine Italy dishes for lunch.

↑Desserts, too.

Next stop: SoHo.

↑ I’ve experienced Uniqlo when I visited Japan – Great quality apparel for people that are on a budget, like me. There’s no way I’d miss the only Uniqlo in the States.

Turn out, this was my first purchase:

↑ Money well spent.

I wasn’t the only one trying to keep dry:

…Though some really just did it for the look.

↑ Word.

↑Enough said.

Tony’s new buy – a trench coat from Zara.

↑Wipe yo mouth, ladies.

Quick swing by:

↑Couldn’t believer it was barely pass noon. We were pretty exhausted at this point..

Tony was hungry too.

↑There were at least 20 carts around SoHo, almost one on every block. ( But I heard the legendary one’s on 53rd street and 6 ave, which we tried later on during the trip. It was bombdigity)

Chicken over rice:

Chinese themed Starbucks. I like.

Food. Food. Food.

After the quick dinner/snack, we decided to head back. We were drained for the first day – but how could stop before getting some beer for the fridge.

↑ SUPER popular market around Union Square. It’s got all kinds of beer, except we still chose Corona and Heineken. Bad moves on us.

↑Victoria Secret cover FTW,

↑Yum, shawarma.

Cody arrived! He’ll be studying aboard in London for the next 3 months, so he decided to make a quick visit to NYC. (meet me half way) Check his blog for more updates on his trip. [Coko’s here]

..then I got too buzzed to take pictures.

↑Brooklyn Lager!

That’s a wrap.

’til tomorrow,
