CES 2011 – Vegas – Day 2

High volume picture alert!

Late night sleep = not able to wake up early.

The show started at 9AM – we’re just about 3 hours late. We knew that there are quite a lot to cover, so we sped through breakfast AND lunch with McDonald’s. Even that’s pricey in Vegas.

Stratosphere was about 45 minutes away from the strip by foot (sacrifice distance for the low price). But with Monorail, everywhere was within 15 minutes away. We just had to walk to Sahara, a near by hotel, that has access to it.

This is what’s up:

This is what greeted us when we first arrived:

↑The 4 door Tesla Model S.

Beautiful ride. Ultimately green, too.

↑All doors were sealed – wish I could sat in there just for a brief moment.

The convention center’s got 3 major halls – North, Central, and South.
For this entry, I’ll be covering North and Central, where they had some of the biggest companies in the tech field.

First stop: WIRED magazine.

↑They were showcasing very innovative gadgets and you know – transformer looking bike. Top speed at about 35mph. It could transform between single wheeler and regular bikes. This will soon replace the scooters?

Sponsored by Reeses, Chris Pirillo was in the house.

At least 12 ft tall. Motorola had not one, not two, but 4 LED walls:

AMAZING.

At this point, I’m more intrigued by their booth set up than their products.
Frankly, there were just way too many tablets/ 3D displays / Multi-touch displays every where.

Microsoft had their own tablets as well.

↑..and of course, they had their Xboxes and Kinect for the public to play around with as well.

Dolby was in the house.

Now it seems obvious – tech companies’ color theme is: shades of purple, blue, and red.

Intel had a big portion of the hall – displaying their latest sandybridge , 3D products.

They had game stations, too:

↑ ..which I wasn’t too good at, but very entertaining.

LG was doing it big – I saw some of coolest products there.

↑Wall of LED monitors.

The incredible part is..how thin they were!

↑Thumb thin.

and what was even more amazing – their OLED displays.

↑GEEZUZ!

Casio and their Tryx camera – kinda like a build in tripod:

↑ Can’t tell through the picture – it’s a 3D display without using any 3D glasses.

Samsung’s new camera.

↑Surprisingly not a micro 4/3, instead a APS-C cmos sensor camera.

Its lenses. Looking good.

Unfortunately, Nikon wasn’t at CES. Sorry, guys.

I was expecting to see the Canon 5D mkIII there, but it wasn’t. We still got to try a couple of Canon’s telephoto zoom lens, though.

↑Almost all the lenses Canon’s made for its DSLRs.

↑..and some MEGA bazookas.

I tried out the 500mm f4.

Just a quick glance of the magnitude of the lens:

↑That’s a T2i on the tail end of the lens.

Test shot:

Amazing lens.

Another innovative company:

Lady Gaga with Polaroid – Grey Label.

↑It’s got an LCD screen – a digital instant camera – remarkable.

↑They also got some water proof devices and stylish  3D glasses.

↑Free for all.

Non-stop of multi-touch displays and 3D displays.. It’s what everyone’s doing nowadays.

The company that took the most space at the show:

↑World’s biggest headphones. in my opinion.

In north hall, where audio devices were located, the convention seemed to turn into an auto show:

It was the battle between who-owns-the-most-expensive-cars.

Got my mind blown again with their booth setup:

↑All electronic R8.

Then, companies on cases. Plenty.

That’s a wrap for day 2. Walked for 5 hours and saw a good deal of innovative products. Good times.

’til tomorrow,
